Measuring Guide

The below is just a guide. We recommend that whenever possible you get a qualified seamstress to measure your dress size. Always have someone else take the measurements—self-measuring is often inaccurate. Measure with undergarments similar to those you will wear with your dress; do not measure over other clothing.

After measuring: if a product page provides a Size Chart, please follow that chart for final selection. For Custom-Made Products (items with a Tailoring Time option) and for styles that do not display a size chart, please refer to our general size chart. See general Size Chart.
How to measure: bust, waist, hips, height, hollow to floor

Bust

  • This is not your bra size.
  • Wear an unpadded bra; arms relaxed at your sides.
  • Measure around the fullest part of your bust.

Waist

  • Find your natural waist (smallest part).
  • Usually about 1 in. above the belly button.
  • Keep the tape slightly loose for comfort.

Hips

  • Measure the widest part of the hips.
  • Usually about 7 in. below the natural waist.
  • Ensure the tape passes across both hipbones.

Height & Hollow to Floor

  • Stand straight with feet together.
  • Height: head top to floor (barefoot).
  • Hollow to Floor: from the hollow at the base of the neck straight down to the floor; measure with your shoes on if you will wear heels.
For short dresses not reaching the floor, measure to the actual hemline of the dress.
